If you’re looking for a travel stroller for an upcoming trip, it’s quite likely that your search has turned up a few results. As a popular, and competitive pushchair market, travel strollers are becoming an important parenting essential, with some even taking over as a family’s one and only pushchair.

So, to help customers shop with ease and discover some of the best travel strollers out there, we’ve brought two of the most popular models; the BABYZEN YOYO2 and Nuna TRVL to compare all that they offer and what one would be right for you. Let’s take a look…

BABYZEN YOYO2

As a complete newborn, travel stroller system, the BABYZEN YOYO2 is arguably one of the best. Its footprint is super small, flat, and one of the lightest of any travel stroller. The BABYZEN YOYO2 has become the day-to-day pushchair of many parents as well a travel companion, and its recognisable white wheels line the streets of many big towns and cities. With an integrated padded carry strap, it’s also a comfortable travel stroller to throw over your shoulder and carry up any flight of stairs or on and off transport.

With the BABYZEN YOYO2’s curved frame, tapered seat, and tucked in rear-wheels, many parents may prefer this more “petite” looking option to the Nuna TRVL but there's a few features that separate these two strollers. Here are some of the unique qualities you'll find on the BABYZEN YOYO2...

Unique features

Cabin approved

The super compact fold of the BABYZEN YOYO2 means that it's the first stroller credited as cabin approved by most airlines so can fit in the overhead locker on a plane.

From birth option

The seat of the BABYZEN YOYO2 6+ can nearly fully recline and can be used with babies from 6 months to approx. 4 yrs. However, with the BABYZEN YOYO2 Newborn Pack (sold separately) the BABYZEN YOYO2 can be used from birth offering a complete newborn to toddler riding solution. Both strollers can be paired with an infant car seat, but the BABYZEN YOYO2 offers two additional configurations for a newborn when you attach the hard-bottomed YOYO2 Bassinet or the soft, Newborn Pack.

The soft BABYZEN YOYO2 0+ Newborn Pack also folds with the stroller and includes a harness while structured BABYZEN YOYO2 Bassinet can be used off the stroller if you're visiting a friend or a restaurant, and it doesn't require a harness.

Lightweight and compact

Both the Nuna TRVL and BABYZEN YOYO2 qualify as travel strollers making them compact and lightweight however, the BABYZEN YOYO2 is slightly smaller and lighter by nearly 1kg - something that is very enticing for parents wanting maximum portability.

The seats for both the Nuna TRVL and BABYZEN YOYO2 can be used for the same length of time, from 6 months until they reach approximately 22kg with both strollers compatible with an infant car seat.

More accessories

The BABYZEN YOYO2 offers a lot more accessory options, including two types of bassinets, a ride-along board for a toddler, and weather gear like a footmuff or parasol. Although the Nuna TRVL features a few integrated accessories, like its leg rest, the BABYZEN has to the option of adding accessories to suit your lifestyle or trip such as a footmuff and ski sets for those colder vacations.

Single to double option

The most recent addition to the BABYZEN YOYO2 is the Connect configuration. With adapters, this clever little pushchair can click onto a second chassis, creating a single to double option when your family grows.

Hidden storage

In the BABYZEN YOYO2, you'll find a zippered storage pocket on the back of the seat unit near the canopy, perfect for stashing essentials like your phone or keys. As well, there's a mesh pouch on the bottom of the seatback for any other bits you want to carry which are at arms length rather than stored in the under seat basket. This is brilliant if you're worried that a travel stroller offers less storage and instead provides handy places to keep essentials for easy, on-the-go access.

Nuna TRVL

The Nuna TRVL stroller was introduced to the market at the beginning of 2022 and designed to be Nuna's ultra-lightweight, compact package that is perfect for trips or exploring faraway places as a family.

The premise of the Nuna TRVL stroller is to offer luxe materials, a sturdy frame and innovative features in a smaller footprint. Compatible with Nuna car seats, the Nuna TRVL ticks all the boxes, from a travel system to a travel stroller, it is perfect for life on the move.

Unique features

Integrated leg rest

In the Nuna TRVL there's an integrated adjustable calf support that allows your little one to stretch their legs and adapt their positioning as they grow. While the BABYZEN YOYO2 also features a leg rest which is available to purchase as an additional accessory.

No re-thread harness

The Nuna TRAVL's no-rethread harness helps with easier adjustments as your child grows and saves you time to enjoy the more important things when on holiday.  Plus, with a magnetic buckle, it makes it a breeze to snap in the harness, so you can secure and go in just a few seconds!

Ventilation panel

In the canopy, you'll find a zippered ventilation panel that sits at the back of the canopy and the seat which is great additional air flow on warmer days. The BABYZEN YOYO2 also features a peek-a-boo style panel but this is made of plastic so doesn't allow for the ventilation like the Nuna TRVL.

One-handed fold

The TRVL self-folds in a single one-handed motion, allowing you to hold your baby while the stroller does the work for you.

Simply slide the handlebar button with your thumb while pressing with your fingers, then let go and let the stroller fold itself into a standing position. Lift the stroller by its bumper bar, and repeat the same motion to unfold it.

Leatherette bumper bar

Featuring a leatherette bumper bar, it also doubles as a carry handle when the stroller is folded. A very handy quality when you're moving quickly between transport and want to fold and place into a boot of a car with ease.

Price point

Last but not least, as a more budget-friendly option, the Nuna TRVL really delivers. For nearly £80 less than the BABYZEN YOYO2, the Nuna TRVL offers great value for money, especially as it includes so many integrated features.

Similar features

As aforementioned, these two strollers aren't too different in what they offer, which is great if you like the look of both of these models. Here are some of the features you can enjoy with both travel strollers...

All-wheel suspension

Both strollers feature 4 wheel suspension that makes strolling a breeze. This quality also improves manoeuvrability and comfort for your little rider, as it will be able to tackle curbs and urban terrain without causing too much disturbance for your little one.

All weather protection

Both the Nuna TRVL and BABYZEN YOYO2 offer ample sun coverage with UPF 50+ protection canopies, as well as water-repellent fabrics and a leatherette handlebar that is brilliant for the wetter weather too.

Multi-position recline

Life on the move can also mean naps on the move, so a multi-position recline which is offered by both of these strollers will be invaluable for your long trips. Neither are completely lie-flat, hence suitable from 6 months, however if this is something you would like to use with a newborn, the BABYZEN YOYO2 offers a newborn pack or carrycot, alternatively the Nuna TRVL comes equipped with a car seat that offers short periods of time transporting a little one.

Travel system compatible

Both strollers can be paired with an infant car seat, but the Nuna TRVL can connect the car seat without adapters, albeit Nuna branded car seats only. On the other hand, the BABYZEN YOYO2 offers both car seat configuration and two types of bassinets that allow for newborns to lie flat in the stroller.

Verdict

The BABYZEN YOYO2 and Nuna TRVL are equally impressive in all that they offer and in such smaller packages. As the newer travel stroller on the market, the Nuna TRVL is yet to attain the revered reputation of the BABYZEN YOYO2, but with it's all-encompassing features, lower price point and luxe finishes it's set to be a real contender against this travel stroller giant.

Undeniably, the BABYZEN YOYO2 has been impressing parents for many years. With its cabin approved fold, lightweight frame and newborn option, it has become a stroller staple in its own right. One thing many have noticed with the BABYZEN YOYO2 however, is the involved fold which requires a two-step, two-handed collapse - something that may be a determining factor to choosing the Nuna TRVL if you're less inclined to practice its mechanics. Although, either decision you make, you're sure to fall in love with all the offerings found in these strollers.
