Giving Tuesday 2022 is nearly here and that means we're getting ready to support this global day of giving and acts of kindness.

We love this day as it's dedicated to everyone, everywhere who wants to do something to support the good causes and communities that mean so much to them.

Better yet, this day is not just for businesses, and how you give back is up to you! You can volunteer your time; donate money; share your skills; campaign for something; donate goods, food, or clothes; organise a community event such as a street or park clean-up or a coffee morning. The list really is endless.

When is it?

Giving Tuesday is an annual event that happens on the same day every year – the Tuesday after Black Friday. This year it falls on 29th November 2022.

How did it start?

Giving Tuesday originated in America in 2012 as a day to give back to those in need after their day of thanksgiving and Black Friday. The aim was to inspire millions of people right across the world to come together on one day to celebrate the charities and communities that mean so much to us all.

This special day has grown in popularity through the power of social media and now happens in over 60 countries.

Giving Tuesday in the UK

Over the years, charities in the UK had watched this event grow in popularity as a campaign in the United States, wondering if the day of giving could take hold this side of the Atlantic. Then in 2014, The UK became an official partner of the global Giving Tuesday movement and the rest is history!

Breaking records

Last year Giving Tuesday went beyond anyone’s expectations and raised more money than ever for thousands of special causes. With over £24.1m raised in 2021's Big Give Christmas Challenge, the 79,054 donations were made over the course of 7 days from Giving Tuesday. This holds the world record for the most amount of money raised but we think we can go even bigger this year!

Commenting on last year’s results, Alex Day, Director of the Big Give, said:

“The public has once again stepped up to the plate. We were blown away by the levels of generosity; to raise over £24m in one week for so many amazing charities is astonishing. At a time where the work of charities has never been more needed, we are so proud to support the 928 charities participating in the campaign. As a sector, we’re much stronger when we work together and the Big Give Christmas Challenge is one of the best examples of that.’

Natural Baby Shower are an official partner of Giving Tuesday

This year, more than ever, we want to help. So, this Giving Tuesday Natural Baby Shower are supporting those in need to help make a difference to those who need it the most.

These past few months have been hard for many and these testing times are bringing new and different challenges to lots of people, so we aim to raise the much-needed funds to make a real difference to those hit hardest by the pressures of hardship and the cost-of-living crisis.

That's why we will be donating 20% of sales from our Christmas shop collection on Tuesday 28th December to our 2 inspiring charity partners: Stripey Stork and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.

Our charity partners

We have been supporting these two great causes for a number of years, seeing firsthand how their amazing work is helping thousands of families.

Our long-term partner Stripey Stork are a volunteer led organisation that rely on the generosity of financial and item donations that help supply families with the basic essentials they need for the health and safety of their little ones. This year alone, they've supported 1,544 families with donations of toys, clothes and other essential items going through experiencing hardship.

We also support our second charity partner; Shooting Star Children’s Hospice. As a leading children’s hospice charity supporting families throughout Surrey and across 15 boroughs of London, the offer a bespoke support that includes a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family. As well as specialist nursing care and respite, symptom management, end-of-life care, and bereavement support.

Their invaluable service is available at no charge, 365 days of the year. However, it takes £8.8 million a year to keep vital hospice services running and with just 8% of that income from central government funding, they rely on the generosity of people and organisations on days such as Giving Tuesday.

Together, we can help

We promise to donate 20% of all sales from our Christmas collection over Giving Tuesday but we need your help as your support helps us to give back.

We also want to give our charity partners the best gift leading up to Christmas, so we're also donating lots of our stock to Stripey Stork and The Baby Bank so that families in hardship can receive the products they so desperately need. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more updates on how we're giving back this year.
